For the past six years, our practice has been known as Arizona Christian Counseling. The practice has actually gone through a few name changes throughout the years, yet our mission has remained the same: to help people find strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
A Changing Landscape
Throughout our history, we have provided care for those inside and outside local faith communities. We have worked with clients who are pastors, church leaders, and regular church-going members. We have also worked with those who are on the "edges" of the faith or even those who have felt rejected from the church, including LGBTQ+ people of faith and those undergoing faith deconstruction.
With the changing landscape in our culture, it is our goal to provide a safe, sacred place for people to work through whatever emotional, relational, and spiritual issues they may be facing — wherever they fall on the spectrum of humanity. We are here to provide a nonjudgmental and supportive environment to allow this to happen. We are very pro-faith and pro-spirituality and encourage each client, if they request it and are open to it, to seek their own connection to God.

The Symbolism Behind the Name and Logo
The name PRISM is an acronym that stands for physical, relational, intellectual, spiritual, and mental health. This represents our approach, which seeks to help the whole person — body and soul. The logo for Prism Counseling not only consists of an interlocking "P" and "C," but is a triangle shape that represents the Trinity as well as a prism, which is a glass or transparent object that refracts light in all its colors. We believe that every person is made in the Image of God and believe that this diversity is reflected in all of creation and humanity. There is also incredible symbolism around the word light in scripture — light is life-giving and allows us to find direction. Jesus is also revealed to be the "light of the world" and call his followers to be the same. Prism Counseling exists to serve the full spectrum of clients who come from a diversity of backgrounds. Do You Still Provide Christian Counseling? Yes. We still provide Christian faith-based counseling for clients who request it. We have always provided counseling services to those of other faith (or non-faith) backgrounds as well. All of our counselors are equipped and trained to provide pastoral counseling or spiritually-integrated psychotherapy and are experienced and comfortable working with those of all backgrounds. Our approach is client-centered and the personal faith and perspective of the people we work with is one that we respect very deeply and thus guides our approach and the work we do with them. Our Vision and Our Mission Our vision is to see people fulfill their divine potential by embracing their authentic self designed in the image of an all-loving God. Our mission is to meet every person where they're at and help them discover strength for today and hope for tomorrow. We seek to inspire, equip, enrich, and empower each individual, couple, and family during any season they are at in their life journey. |
