A counselor can help you take an inventory of events and thoughts that trigger your anxiety. They can help you create new coping skills and develop new patterns of thinking that can lessen or alleviate your symptoms. It's important to also talk with your doctor about medication for managing anxiety, as well as lifestyle interventions (such as improving sleep and diet) so you can feel better. If you are a person of faith, spiritually-integrated counseling can help you develop spiritual practices (such as meditation, prayer, and mindfulness) that can help bring you a sense of peace and hope.
