Hi, my name is Tres. As a counselor, coach, trainer, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I specialize in helping both straight and queer adults, teens, and couples navigate life’s challenges with care and compassion. Whether you’re seeking greater clarity, stronger relationships, personal growth, or working to overcome the weight of the past, I provide a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and valued.
My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative, fostering a safe and accepting environment where you can explore what matters most to you. With a sex-positive perspective, I offer support in processing shame, celebrating your identity, and building resilience, guiding you through even the most sensitive topics with empathy and understanding. Whether you’re exploring your spirituality, questioning it, or stepping away from it altogether, I strive to meet you where you are, helping you build self-acceptance, confidence, and a path toward meaningful growth. Together, we’ll uncover practical solutions and deeper insights that empower you to move forward with clarity and purpose. |
I use practical and evidence-based approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, and Family Systems Therapy, to help clients gain self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and build effective tools for personal growth. For those interested, I also integrate fitness coaching and personal training into treatment plans, blending physical wellness with emotional balance to create a holistic approach to well-being. Additionally, I offer spiritually-integrated support for clients who request it, always respecting your beliefs and ensuring the process is collaborative and non-dogmatic. My focus is on empowering you to take charge of your life and move toward meaningful growth.
My journey into this work has been deeply shaped by personal experiences. As someone who has survived conversion therapy, I understand the profound challenges of reconciling your true self with a world that may not always accept you. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career where I could support others in navigating their own unique journeys. Initially, I entered grad school to become a minister, driven by a desire to create meaningful change. However, as I immersed myself in pastoral care courses, I realized my true calling was not in traditional ministry but in walking alongside people through life’s most difficult moments. Counseling became my path because I saw its power to provide one-on-one hope, support, and a space for transformative growth.
Coming out later in life was a difficult but liberating step, one that allowed me to fully embrace who I am. I found a welcoming professional home in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), which not only supported my growth as a counselor but also accepted me as an openly gay man. Soon after, I met my partner, Chris, and we’ve been building a life together ever since. Now engaged, I’m grateful every day for his love and partnership — a joy I once thought might never be possible. |
As for my credentials, I’m a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC #0791) with over 12 years of experience. I hold a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Wesley Biblical Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Asbury University. I’m also a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the International Sports Sciences Association and an ordained minister through the Federation of Christian Ministries.
Through my work as a Spiritual Care Specialist trainer with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), I train leaders to provide compassionate and ethical spiritual care to those they serve. As the founder of Prism Connection, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on LGBTQ+ advocacy and creating access to resources, I am committed to empowering queer and underserved communities. Drawing on my education, background, and experience, I offer a holistic, client-centered approach that integrates personal growth, wellness, and meaningful connection. |
Outside of work, I enjoy weightlifting, gaming, reading, writing, and spending time with Chris — my fiancé who I've been with for almost six years — our tabby cat Majerle, and our English bulldog Rocky.
