Spiritual Care Internship
Summer 2025 — Peoria, Arizona
Prism Counseling & Coaching is offering two (2) spiritual care intern positions for Summer 2025 (June–August). This 10-week, part-time opportunity (up to 10 hours/week) is designed for undergraduate ministry students and graduate-level seminary students preparing for pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, or spiritually-integrated care roles.
Note: This internship is designed primarily for undergraduate ministry students and graduate seminary students preparing for pastoral ministry or chaplaincy. It is not intended for graduate counseling students currently pursuing state licensure. However, undergraduate students majoring in psychology or counseling — especially those interested in spiritually-integrated care — may also find this experience valuable.

About the Internship
This in-person internship offers a blend of spiritual formation, personal development, practical skill-building, and direct care experience in a supportive, mentorship-based setting. This offering integrate the ACPE Spiritual Care Specialist program, which is a spiritually-integrated mental health training for clergy and caregivers developed by ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education.

- 8–10 hours per week, including training, client care, reflection, and project work.
- Four in-person group meetings (biweekly) held in Phoenix with flexible scheduling.
Training & Formation
1. ACPE-Based Spiritual Care Specialist Curriculum (48 education contact hours)
3. Ministry Projects & Practical Engagement
- Access to self-paced materials from the ACPE Spiritual Care Specialist program.
- Attend four in-person small group sessions (3 hours each) led by the residency supervisor.
- Participate in four peer practice sessions, applying tools from the training.
- Engage in weekly reflection and guided integration assignments.
- Each intern will work with one short-term client, providing weekly care over the summer (approx. 10 sessions).
- Receive individualized supervision and feedback on client care and pastoral presence.
- Practice integrating spiritual insight, emotional support, and appropriate referral skills.
3. Ministry Projects & Practical Engagement
- Contribute 2–3 blog posts or devotionals for the Prism website.
- Complete a community engagement project, such as connecting with local ministries or spiritual communities.
- Optional: Assist with content creation, social media, or pastoral resource development.

- A stipend of $25–$40 per client session, up to 10 sessions total, for providing short-term pastoral care.
- Free access to our proprietary Christian DISC® programs, including certification and assessments (a value of $300–$1,000 depending on materials used).
- Documentation for academic credit, if required by your college, university, or seminary.
