Hi, I’m Dr. Phil Ladd. As a licensed professional counselor and pastoral psychotherapist, I work with adults, teens, couples, and LGBTQ+ clients navigating a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges. My approach blends clinical expertise with a compassionate, relational style — always grounded in respect for each person’s unique story, values, and goals.
I specialize in trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, and relationship concerns, and I am certified in EMDR, a powerful, evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. Whether you're facing the lingering effects of past experiences or struggling with present-day stress, I offer practical support and deep presence to help you move forward with clarity and hope. My approach — with decades of experience in both counseling and ministry, I bring a steady, thoughtful presence to the therapy room. My clients appreciate my ability to listen without judgment, to hold space for big emotions, and to guide the process with care and insight. For those who wish to include spiritual or faith-based perspectives in their work, I offer spiritually-integrated care that honors your background and beliefs. A bit about me — I moved to Arizona from the Midwest to be closer to my children and grandchildren, and I’m grateful to call the Valley home. Outside of counseling, I enjoy music, reading, racquet sports, and spending time with my family. I’ve also been active in social justice work and church ministry throughout my life. As for my credentials, I hold a Doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona. I am certified in EMDR and Geriatric Counseling, and I’m ordained through the Progressive Christian Alliance. Over the years, I’ve co-owned a thriving counseling practice in Illinois, served as Vice President of a nonprofit children’s home, and worked extensively with families, clergy, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
