LGBTQ+ Sexuality & IdentityPrism Counseling & Coaching provides supportive, affirming counseling for LGBTQ+ individuals and families navigating questions of sexuality and identity. We work with adults, teens, and families who may be questioning, private, or in the early stages of understanding themselves.
For people of faith, questions of sexual orientation or gender identity can feel especially complex within church or faith-based environments. These topics are often misunderstood or avoided altogether, and many people have been hurt by how churches or faith communities have responded, leaving them feeling isolated, conflicted, or unsure where to turn for support. Our counselors specialize in working with individuals of faith who are seeking to thoughtfully integrate their faith and sexuality. We recognize that clients come from a wide range of theological backgrounds and hold differing beliefs about how faith, identity, and future life choices intersect. Our role is not to impose answers, but to offer a respectful, grounded space for discernment, reflection, and support. Our goal is to help clients move toward greater peace and integrity in who they are, while honoring their faith, values, and relationships. Prism Counseling & Coaching is fully LGBTQ+ affirming, and we do not offer any form of counseling that seeks to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Providers Who Work with LGBTQ+ Clients |
Prism Counseling & Coaching does not provide, promote, or endorse conversion therapy. Conversion therapy refers to any attempt to change a person's sexual orientation or identity, whether through psychotherapy, pastoral counseling, or support group programs. We are strongly opposed to these approaches as conversion therapy is unethical and dangerous. We also cannot and will not refer anyone to an outside provider offering this type of service. In many cases, conversion therapy is illegal in the state of Arizona (as well as several other states) yet may still go by various other names or brands. Some will even assert to not be conversion therapy — but any attempt to change a person's sexual orientation or identity (or a promise that change will occur, either directly or as a byproduct) is considered unethical by every major medical association in America. |
